I’m Hillary.

I was born in Oakland, California to a poor, but humble family. When I was six, I attended the local buddhist temple where monks would recite teachings of the the dharma. Week after week, I listened to talks about suffering and impermanence, while simultaneously suffering from having to sit through talks about suffering and impermanence.

In my teenage years, meditation was the most difficult. Sitting quietly meant meeting every emotion I did not want to feel: fear, rage, insecurity. For a long time, it felt dreadful, but so is being a teenager. It took nearly a decade before I learned how to sit beside my own darkness.

In 2008, I studied biology and psychology at UC Berkeley. I respected science deeply, and I still do. I believed in evidence, testing, and the progress that technology has done for this world. But even within science, there was much that we didn’t understand - miracles, coincidences, and the guiding voices. Like many, my first instinct was skepticism. I searched for explanations before I searched for meaning. Over time, I came to see science as an explanation for what spirituality already knows.

In 2016, I moved to Thailand where it deepened my understanding of spirituality and opened the door to practice other forms of healing. After 29 years of buddhism, I began to focus on more ancient spiritual practices - past lives, chakras, spirit guides.

I've only been doing this work for a year, so I won't promise instant healing or life-changing revelations. My work is quieter. My goal is simply to help you notice what may be difficult to see on your own, and to create space for greater understanding.
